Insurance
Currently, in the State of California, Naturopathic Doctors are not contracted with insurance companies, and therefore do not do any direct insurance billing. Unfortunately, Naturopathic Medical Care is currently not covered by most carriers for this reason.
Great Western and CIGNA have certain plans that offer partial reimbursement for some services and labs. Many insurance PPO plans will cover partially, or in full, routine lab work. Few insurance plans may also cover some specialty testing.
Are You Covered?
Call your insurance provider and be sure to ask them the following questions:
- Do they cover Naturopathic Doctors as providers?
- Do they offer any coverage for Naturopathic Medicine services?
- Do they cover labs ordered by an out-of network provider?
For your convenience we can give you a “superbill” at the time of your appointment that you can submit to your insurance, and request reimbursement.
Health Savings/Flexible Spending Accounts
You can always pay for services with, or submit to, a Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account if one is available to you.
